John's journey with Starting Strength began in 2020. His personal success with the program fueled a desire to share its benefits with others. Becoming a Starting Strength Coach in 2022, he's now worked with hundreds of clients with different backgrounds, from teenagers to individuals in their 90s. John believes that strength is fundamental to a high quality of life, and he believes everyone—regardless of age, background, or experience—can train effectively for it.
Travis is a Boise native and teacher of 20 years. He found Starting Strength when looking for ways to help his mom retain her strength in her senior years. They began training at Starting Strength Boise, and the strength gains and social atmosphere helped tremendously with their progress. Now, Travis is the Owner, working as an apprentice, and taking the Coaching Prep Course, Travis is excited to bring his education career and life experience as a son, husband, dad, and grandpa into the gym and help others of all backgrounds see the same life-changing benefits he and his family have.
Mason is a former All-American triathlete, published novelist, and apprentice coach at SS Boise. He weighed 120 pounds when he found Starting Strength in January of 2021; since then, he's gotten significantly less flimsy. He enjoys surfing, mountain biking, and rock climbing, and is eager to help others use strength training to improve their performance in outdoor pursuits. As a certified Precision nutrition coach, he supports clients to achieve a healthy relationship with food that is compatible with their lifestyle and performance goals.
