The Starting Strength Coach Credential is the Most Advanced in the Industry
Amber Kuunani Casey came to Starting Strength after 12 years of CrossFit. She was looking for training that delivered results without the chaos — straightforward, simple, repeatable — and found that the squat, press, deadlift, and bench were doing in weeks what years of constantly varied training hadn't. Beyond coaching members on the floor, Amber leads social media and content for Starting Strength Oklahoma City and the broader Starting Strength Gyms franchise. She brings a steady, patient presence to the gym, particularly with members balancing demanding lives outside their training, and is currently working toward her SSC credential.
Nick Borghini was a high-school distance runner — 60 miles a week, 120 pounds soaking wet — who realized after a few aimless years in the college weight room that he needed both a bigger frame and a real method. He came to Starting Strength to put on size and get strong, and is in the middle of a deliberate gaining phase under the program. Beyond coaching members on the floor, Nick leads video and content production for Starting Strength Oklahoma City and Starting Strength Gyms — he's the team's go-to for filming, editing, and lighting on camera projects. He is currently working toward his SSC credential.
Yeliz Turkdil rowed at the Division I level for the University of Oklahoma before transitioning to endurance running. After accumulating the kind of injury list that comes with high-volume athletics — a previously broken arm, knee injuries, ongoing back issues — she found that adding strength training to her week did what stretching and rest had not: her squat moved out of its rehab progression in two weeks, running pain dropped, and her legs held up under longer distances. She's currently training for a HYROX competition and working toward her SSC credential. Yeliz is calm, firm, and confident under the bar, and is especially good at helping newer lifters figure out what they actually want from training so the work has a target.
